July Prayer Calendar
When I started sorting through topics for the book, I realized most of what I pray for Casiday could be grouped into those five areas. The truth is, most of what I pray for myself can be grouped into those five areas. And, I’m guessing the same is true for you too. As you read these descriptions, think about which resonate most deeply with you.
Her identity—finding her security and strength in God’s love and acceptance
Her heart—pursuing a life of purity and devotion to the Lord
Her mind—committing to growing in wisdom and discernment regardless of her circumstances
Her relationships—developing skills and attitudes to foster healthy relationships with others
Her purpose—trusting God with her life, gifts, and passions
In July, we’ll be using selected prayers from the book as we pray for what our girls need most.
Social media, television, movies, magazines … it all can leave our daughters uncertain about who they are and where they fit into the world around them. In the first section of the book, we cover what it is to be made in the image of God as well as praying for our girls to be sure they are loved, known, and accepted by God.
Vicki Courtney has long been one of my favorite writers on parenting girls. Her book, 5 Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter, laid the groundwork for much of how I approached some of the most challenging topics in raising Casiday. Vicki read an early copy of the book and said,
Raising godly girls in today’s culture can feel daunting. Too often mothers focus more on the challenges rather than the solution. Teri Lynne equips moms to utilize the most powerful weapon in their parenting tool belt: prayer.
Praying for our daughters to walk in their true identity in Christ opens the door for God to do an incredible work in them. What a gift it is for us to pray for them to understand what it is to be His child—formed by His hands, known from before time began, loved with an everlasting love, and accepted no matter what she’s done.

Lord, help us as moms know who we are in You. And as we grow in our understanding and confidence in those truths, give us wisdom and determination to pray for them to know the same. May we model the grace and wholeness of walking in our identity in You, giving our girls a real life picture of what it is to trust Your words about us are true. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
