It’s such an honor to have the opportunity to share in the Prayers for Girls community!
I’ve been following Teri Lynne’s blog for a couple of years, and her commitment to prayer and the Scriptures is so inspiring to me! When she began the Prayers for Girls blog, I knew I needed to join the ride to help me through the years of raising my 3 girls. Then, when the opportunity to contribute opened, I hoped I might have some encouragement to share from my perspective. With three young ladies under my wings, all with very different personalities, I am definitely praying for wisdom and guidance. So, maybe we can all get through this together?!
What is my heart for these girls of mine?
Probably just like you, I want them to grow up to have a passion for God, to fulfill their potential in life, and to be the women God has created them to be. I want to help them avoid the issues I have struggled with in life, or at least help them navigate through the struggles a little bit better than I did. I want them to have a deep understanding of how much God loves them, and to fully comprehend how His love satisfies every desire and longing in their hearts. As God’s love becomes the source of their being, then everything else in life flows from this truth. I want my girls to have a deeper relationship with God than I have ever imagined and to live boldly in the strength and power of His Spirit.
Sure, I want my girls to grow up to become happily married with beautiful children of their own, to enjoy successful careers and callings, and to possess all the blessings God will pour out on them. However, since I also believe we are living in the last days, and our girls may be the generation that sees Revelation come to pass. I pray my girls will be powerful, effective Christians in bringing about the purpose of His Kingdom! I want them to be more than material, self-absorbed, selfie-addicts. I want them to be rooted and grounded and strong enough for the purpose for which God has created them!
What is my hope for Prayers for Girls?
Even with my best of intentions, I get weary when they call “momma” a hundred times a day! So. my hope is that we girl-moms band together to lift each other up and inspire each other along the way. As we strive to cover our girls with prayer, may we become more like Christ ourselves, forming us all into His Image. Together, we can raise a generation of women for His Kingdom!
